Canada's Wonderland by limousine, Sprinter or party bus

Canada's Wonderland is the 330-acre amusement park at Major Mackenzie Drive and Jane Street in Maple, Vaughan — North America's most-visited seasonal amusement park in 2022 with about 3.8 million guests, with a 20-acre water park, Splash Works. Groups book a chauffeured Sprinter (14) or party bus (20–30) for birthdays, corporate outings and school groups, and visitors book sedans and SUVs from the Highway 7 hotels and from Pearson. The chauffeur drops at the designated area, and pickups are booked for an hour after a fireworks show ends because Jane Street is stopped for the exodus.

Wonderland is the reason most of Canada has heard of Vaughan. It opened in 1981 on farmland north of the city and now runs from May to the Halloween and winter events, with a roster of roller coasters that includes some of the tallest and fastest in the country and a water park that fills every hot day in July. For a chauffeured service the park is a group destination — a birthday for twelve, a corporate family day for a busload, a school trip — and a visitor destination for the families staying at the Vaughan hotels or arriving at Pearson for a Toronto week that includes a park day. Either way, the two things the chauffeur knows that the map does not are where the drop-off is and what Jane Street does at ten o'clock on a fireworks night.

Getting there

The park's entrance is off Jane Street north of Rutherford and south of Major Mackenzie, with the main lot between them; the park's own site has the current entrance and parking arrangements and the calendar. From the Highway 7 hotels and the VMC it is ten minutes up Jane; from Woodbridge fifteen via Rutherford; from Thornhill twenty via Highway 7 and Jane or Major Mackenzie; from Pearson 25 to 30 via the 427, the 407 and Jane or the 400 and Rutherford. On an opening-day, a Canada Day or a summer Saturday, Jane and Rutherford back up from the 400 by ten in the morning, and the chauffeur comes up Keele and across Major Mackenzie instead.

Drop-off and pickup

Chauffeured vehicles drop at the passenger drop-off area near the main entrance rather than parking; the chauffeur takes the group to the gate, agrees the pickup time and place, and leaves. For the pickup the vehicle returns to the same area, and the group texts when they are through the exit. Sprinters and party buses use the bus area; sedans and SUVs the car drop-off. The park's layout changes for special events and the chauffeur checks the day's arrangement.

The fireworks-night rule

On nights with fireworks — Canada Day, the summer Saturday series, the season's closing weekends — the park empties at once and Jane Street from the entrance to the 400 and Major Mackenzie both ways are stopped for forty minutes to an hour. A pickup booked for fifteen minutes after the show ends is a group standing at the gate for an hour while the chauffeur sits in the same traffic as everyone else. Book the pickup for an hour after; the group has a drink in the park; the chauffeur arrives as the lot clears. Pickups in the streets east of Jane in Maple at that hour need the same margin.

Group bookings: birthdays, corporate days, schools

A birthday for twelve from three Woodbridge addresses is an Executive Sprinter by the hour — collected at ten, dropped at the gate, collected at six, home. A corporate family day for a department is a party bus from the office lot or a shuttle from the Highway 7 hotels, with a manifest so the organiser knows everyone came back. A school or camp group is a Sprinter or bus with a chaperone ratio the school sets. All by the hour; the hourly page explains the day rate, and drinks are not carried on a booking with minors.

Visitors: hotels and the airport

The Highway 7 and Jane hotel cluster — Element, SpringHill Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Novotel, Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn — is the park's hotel row, and a family staying there books a Luxury SUV to the gate at opening and back at closing, or an hourly chauffeur who does Wonderland in the morning, Vaughan Mills in the afternoon and dinner in Woodbridge. Families landing at Pearson for a Toronto week with a Wonderland day book the airport transfer to the hotel and the park day separately, each a fixed fare. The travel desk books the hotel.

Halloween Haunt and WinterFest

The park's autumn Halloween event runs on Friday and Saturday nights into the small hours and draws groups of teenagers and adults for whom a party bus is the natural vehicle; the pickup-after-closing rule applies with more force, because the lot empties at midnight. WinterFest in December is a family evening booking from the hotels and from across Vaughan. The park's calendar is on its site; the chauffeurs know it.

Which vehicle

The Sprinter for up to fourteen with day bags; the party bus for twenty to thirty; the Luxury SUV for a family of six; a sedan for a couple. Strollers and coolers ride in the cargo bay. The stretch is booked for a birthday arrival occasionally, and the chauffeur will say whether the drop-off area suits it on the day.

Booking a Wonderland trip

In the reservation engine: "hourly", the first pickup address, the start time and the hours, the vehicle, and "Canada's Wonderland — main entrance drop-off, pickup one hour after fireworks" in the notes. For a hotel-to-gate transfer, two one-ways. For a school or corporate group, the contact page.

The park, for the first-time visitor

Wonderland's 330 acres are laid out around a central mountain and a lake, with themed areas radiating from the entrance plaza: the family and children's areas near the front, the big coasters around the perimeter, the water park — Splash Works, twenty acres of slides and pools — on the eastern side, and the shows and dining in between. The park's coaster roster has grown over four decades to include some of the tallest and fastest in the country, and a full day is the norm; families with small children do the front half and the water park, teenagers do the perimeter, and both meet at the fireworks. Season passes make Vaughan families frequent visitors and turn a chauffeured Sprinter into a recurring booking for a group of cousins. The park's site has the map, the hours, which change by month, and the special-event calendar that governs the traffic.

A birthday at Wonderland, as it runs

Twelve children and four adults from three addresses in Woodbridge book an Executive Sprinter by the hour from 09:00. The chauffeur collects at the first house at 08:55 — cake in the rear compartment, coolers under the seats — the second and third addresses by 09:25, Rutherford east to Jane and up to the entrance by 09:45, drops at the bus area and walks the group to the gate for the ten o'clock opening. The chauffeur is released to a nearby lot and returns at 17:30 when the parents text; the group is aboard by 17:45, ahead of the evening's fireworks crowd, and home in reverse order by 18:30. Eight and a half hours at the hourly rate, and no parent drove sixteen people in four cars or paid for four parking spaces.

The water park, and wet passengers

Splash Works days end with wet children and wet bags, and the vehicle should expect it: the SUV and the Sprinter have seats that take towels, and the chauffeur brings them if you ask at booking. Coolers ride in the cargo bay; strollers fold and ride behind the third row; sunscreen and the change of clothes are the family's. A group that plans a water-park afternoon and a Vaughan Mills dinner books the Sprinter for the day and changes at the mall.

Corporate family days and season events

Vaughan's companies book Wonderland for the summer family day — a party bus or two Sprinters from the Concord office lot at nine, the group's tickets pre-arranged with the park, the buses at the bus area at six, and a manifest so the organiser knows everyone returned. The park's group-sales team handles the tickets and the picnic pavilions; the chauffeurs handle the road and the timing. Halloween Haunt's Friday and Saturday nights in October are the party bus's autumn season, with the midnight closing and the lot's exodus; WinterFest's December evenings are family SUV bookings from the hotels and across Vaughan, and the lot clears gently.

Visitors from abroad, and the hotels

A family from Italy, the UK or India spending a Toronto week with a Wonderland day usually stays at the Highway 7 and Jane hotel cluster ten minutes south — the Element, the Novotel, the Hilton Garden Inn among them — and books the park run as two one-ways from the hotel lobby, or an hourly chauffeur who does the park in the morning, Vaughan Mills in the afternoon and dinner in Woodbridge. The Pearson route brings them to the hotel; the travel desk books the rooms; the network is how a London travel agent found us.

Getting the group there on time

The park opens at ten most days and the gate queue is longest in the first half-hour; a group that arrives at 09:45 is inside by 10:10, a group that arrives at 10:30 waits. The chauffeur's plan works back from the gate: fifteen minutes for the drop and the walk, ten for Jane Street on a normal morning and twenty on a Saturday in July, and the pickups in an order that does not cross Vaughan twice. Put the addresses in the notes and the chauffeur sets the sequence and the first pickup time. For a season-pass family doing a weekday afternoon, an SUV from the door at two and back at eight is a simple pair of fixed fares.

Weather days

A rain day closes the water park and thins the crowd; the pickup is easier and the group leaves early — tell the chauffeur by text and the hourly booking simply ends sooner. A heat warning fills Splash Works and the lot by eleven; the chauffeur leaves earlier. A thunderstorm stops the rides and the gate empties at once, like a fireworks night; the chauffeur, watching the sky, moves to the pickup area before the text comes.

The details

Rutherford Road at Jane is the intersection that fails first; Major Mackenzie at Jane second. The 400's Rutherford exit backs onto the highway on a summer Saturday morning, and the chauffeur uses Major Mackenzie instead. The park's lot is enormous and a meeting point at the gate is better than "at the car". Splash Works days mean wet passengers — the SUV has towels if you ask. And the season's last weekends and the first hot weekend of July are the busiest days of the year; the chauffeur leaves earlier.

FAQ

Canada's Wonderland: questions answered

Where does a limousine drop off at Canada's Wonderland?

At the passenger drop-off area near the main entrance off Jane Street; Sprinters and party buses use the bus area. The chauffeur walks the group to the gate and agrees the pickup point.

When should we book the pickup after fireworks?

An hour after the show ends. Jane Street and Major Mackenzie are stopped for forty to sixty minutes after a fireworks night; an earlier pickup means the group waits at the gate while the chauffeur sits in the same traffic.

Can we book a party bus for a birthday at Wonderland?

Yes — by the hour, collected from your addresses, dropped at the gate, collected after. No alcohol on a booking with minors.

How far is Wonderland from the Vaughan hotels and Pearson?

Ten minutes up Jane from the Highway 7 hotels; 25 to 30 minutes from Pearson via the 427, 407 and Jane or the 400 and Rutherford.

Can we leave things in the vehicle during the day?

On an hourly booking the vehicle and its contents stay with the chauffeur; on two one-way fares the vehicle leaves between trips, so take what you need into the park.
